SYNOPSIS:
Follows the secretive exploits of four high school juniors - Kitty, Olivia, Margot and Bree - at an exclusive Catholic prep school.

To all outward appearances, the girls barely know each other. At best, they don't move in the same social circles; at worst, they're overtly hostile.

Margot Mejia – academically ranked number two in her class, Margot is a focused overachiever bound for the Ivy League.

Kitty Li – captain of the California state and national champion varsity girls' volleyball team, she's been recruited by a dozen colleges and has dreams of winning an Olympic gold medal.

Olivia Hayes – popular star of the drama program, she's been voted "most eligible bachelorette" two years running in the high school yearbook and has an almost lethal combination of beauty and charm.

Different goals, different friends, different lives, but the girls share a secret no one would ever guess. They are members of Don't Get Mad, a society specializing in seeking revenge for fellow students who have been silently victimized by their peers. Each girl has her own reason for joining the group, her own set of demons to assuage by evening the score for someone else. And though school administration is desperate to find out who is behind the DGM "events", the girls have managed to keep their secret well hidden.

That is until one of their targets – a douchebag senior who took advantage of a drunk underclassman during a house party, videotaped it on his phone, and posted it on YouTube – turns up dead, and DGM is implicated in the murder.

Now the girls don't know who to trust, and as their tenuous alliance begins to crumble, the secrets they've hidden for so long might be their ultimate undoing.

Cover Reveal: Seeking Her by Cora Carmack

ABOUT SEEKING HER by Cora Carmack
A few months after being honorably discharged from the military, Jackson Hunt is still struggling to adjust back to the real world. He needs to get a job and find a sense of normalcy if he’s going to keep his own demons at bay. The job that falls into his lap, though, is anything but normal.

Bodyguard (and baby-sitter) to spoiled-rich-girl Kelsey Summers isn’t exactly what he’d been looking for, but it’s a chance to travel, to get away from the home that has felt stifling ever since his return. It would be a pretty sweet gig if it weren’t for the fact that Kelsey’s father doesn’t want Kelsey to know she’s being followed. Hunt feels guilty (and a little bit creepy) as he watches her from afar. She’s vibrant and infuriating, exciting and reckless, mysterious and familiar. When he sees her falling into the same patterns that he suffered years ago, he decides it’s time to stop watching and help her instead. But getting to know her is more difficult than he thought, especially because the more he knows her,
the more he wants her.

A Little Too Much - Lisa Desrochers

Synopsis: In the follow-up to Lisa Desrochers’ explosive New Adult novel A Little too Far, Alessandro Moretti must face the life he escaped and the girl he loved and left behind.
Twenty-two year old Hilary McIntyre would like nothing more than to forget her past. As a teenager abandoned to the system, she faced some pretty dark times. But now that’s all behind her. Hilary has her life on track, and there’s no way she’ll head back down that road again.
Until Alessandro Moretti—the one person who can make her remember—shows up on her doorstep. He’s even more devastatingly gorgeous than before, and he’s much too close for comfort. Worse, he sees right through the walls she’s built over these last eight years, right into her heart and the secrets she’s guarding.
As Hilary finds herself falling back into love with the man who, as a boy both saved and destroyed her, she must decide. Past or future? Truth or lies?

I wonder what my life would be like if it was written by Lisa Desrochers. I just have this image of totally off-kilter things defining my life and making it seem really strange, but somehow perfect. I get the feeling that she sees the world a little differently, and it’s really kind of cool to see relationships and life in an unexpected way. Because when it comes to her books, there’s this bold and daring aspect that just sets her apart from other writers. A Little Too Much was an incredibly emotional that took my by surprise in a way I wasn't anticipating.

A Little Too Much follows Hilary, a heroine I totally relate to, and Alessandro, who we last left with Lexi in Rome in A Little Too Far. I couldn't quite envision how another relationship of Alessandro's would go because he was really entwined in Lexi's story and I couldn't see him without her. But then Hilary came along and he just makes so much more sense in her story than in Lexi's, which just goes to show you that when it's right - you know it.

Alessandro reappears in Hilary's life and we get some flashbacks to Alessandro's rough period with his brother Lorenzo. Hilary plays an important part in his past, and I just totally felt her pain as she had to go through and work out some pieces of her history. I loved that having Alessandro back in her life was simultaneously hard but wonderful. Their chemistry is just so amazing and the way they get to know one another again, with a weekly date to explore unknown parts of New York City, was just brilliant.

The way the story is written, as well, is just incredible. The memories didn't take over the storyline, but it was clear the past was always defining Hilary's life. Even Alessandro was still the same person we got to know in Lexi's story, but he was somehow more this time around. The best part about it, is that you get so caught up in it without realizing you're reading a book. It was easy to get lost in their lives for a little bit.

While it didn't take the same risks or pull of quite the same feat as A Little Too Far, this book is still incredible and Lisa Desrochers has become a must read for me. This is how New Adult books should be written. They should deal with balancing the past and the future, they should have the kind of awakening to what life can be that Hilary has. They should be interesting and daring while still being true to life. And Lisa Desrochers demonstrates and balances all these elements beautifully.

Synopsis: Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong...

With each new city and experience, Kelsey's mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.

We all know I’m Team Garrick and will probably be forever, but let’s just say that Jackson Hunt comes in a very close second to the boy with a British accent. I’ve been looking forward to Kelsey’s story most since reading Losing It, partially because Kelsey is awesome but also because she’s traveling through Europe. I think that all new adults, young adults, and adult adults should go traipsing through Europe at some point. I did my fair share of traipsing, but not in the way Kelsey takes on Europe. We knew she was a bit of a fireball/party animal in Losing It, but I don’t think anyone really had an idea how crazy she actually is.

I have to say that I love Kelsey. I think a lot of people are frustrated or annoyed by her, which is actually understandable because, in the beginning she is a little out of control. The thing is - I loved her in Losing It because of her awesome energy. She just seemed so alive and carefree. Of course, when you take out all the other factors, this aspect of her personality is overwhelming and actually seems really shallow. She’s partying her way through Europe, so she’s basically seeing the inside of dingy bars and mingling with other foreigners until she gets a huge wake up call.

Kelsey has an incident at a party in the Budapest baths, which is quite terrifying for her, but it was actually one of my favorite scenes in the book because all of her walls slip away and she’s quite sweet and scared. We also get to see Jackson Hunt come to the rescue and let me just say that a dude like that can carry me out of a party anytime.

Jackson is everything you want in a book hero. Although he has a bit of a stalker vibe going on, he’s also ex-military, perfectly mysterious, and just the right amount of sweet and bad. He’s clearly hiding something and it’s hard to imagine what that something is, so when you find out it’s so easy to feel the rug slip out from underneath Kelsey. But because he’s hiding something, he’s builds great tension between the two of them, as it takes a lot to get him to finally make a move. Remember the awesome part of Losing It where Bliss and Garrick are holed up in her apartment because they have mono? When Kelsey and Jackson finally come together, it’s like that but without the mono and instead of an apartment it’s all of the Cinque Terre in Italy. It’s wonderful.

I love Kelsey and I really love Hunt. But honestly, the European background just made this story amazing in my eyes. Kelsey really grows while she’s there. And part of it has to do with Hunt coming into her life, but a big part of it is clearly the setting. Even though she stays because she is running away from something, she still gains a lot by the end in independence and maturity. Europe changed me in a big way, so I could completely relate to Kelsey.

Don’t give up on Kelsey too early. Let her surprise you. And if nothing else, read this book to take a bit of a mind vacation to Europe. And hang out with the incredible Jackson Hunt. I am a little sad that we’re out of Losing It characters for Cora to write about, but I can’t wait to read everything else she writes.

The Burning Sky - Sherry Thomas

Synopsis: Iolanthe Seabourne is the greatest elemental mage of her generation—or so she's being told. The one prophesied for years to be the savior of The Realm. It is her duty and destiny to face and defeat the Bane, the greatest mage tyrant the world has ever known. A suicide task for anyone let alone a sixteen-year-old girl with no training, facing a prophecy that foretells a fiery clash to the death.
Prince Titus of Elberon has sworn to protect Iolanthe at all costs but he's also a powerful mage committed to obliterating the Bane to avenge the death of his family—even if he must sacrifice both Iolanthe and himself to achieve his goal.
But Titus makes the terrifying mistake of falling in love with the girl who should have been only a means to an end. Now, with the servants of the Bane closing in, he must choose between his mission and her life.

Fantasy books for me are either the best thing ever or they just miss. My favorite books at the moment tend to be fantasy, and I can’t really get enough of it. So I was really excited for The Burning Sky. Seriously, slap a Kristin Cashore comparison on anything and I’ll probably give it a try. Unfortunately, this one turned out to be a miss for me. I think I missed something important, because I never really clicked with this story.  I never got that moment where I was completely transported into another world – I was very much an outsider looking into this story, so I was a little bummed.
There are great things about this book, but they’re all in concept, as the delivery didn’t come through for me. I love elemental stuff, so I think it’s great that the magic in this book came from elemental powers. I also really love thunderstorms, so the fact that Iolanthe can call lightening was the coolest thing ever.  The other thing I really got into was the part where Iolanthe and Titus are pretty much living She’s the Man - which, ok, is really Twelfth Night, but still we’re talking a girl dressing up like a guy at a boy’s boarding school. Plus, they had a bit of a romance thing going on, which they had to be careful to hide since everyone thinks Iolanthe is a guy. That was pretty great.
The problem is that I never really connected with Iolanthe or Titus, or anyone really. I felt a bit like I was getting this story filtered through a few sources, so it was distorted and it wasn’t personal. There was no one there to transport me into their shoes or to show me this new world. I had to just hear about it, and that didn’t really work well for me. Even the romance between Iolanthe and Titus was a little lukewarm for me, which is probably because I didn’t care about them individually like I probably should have. Every once in a while Titus would say something totally adorable, but pages later I felt like his magic wore off quickly.
I’m sure this world is amazing because how can it not be when you have elemental magic, but I felt like I wasn’t really able to quite see it. Part of that was because of my lack of attachment, and the other part was wrapping my head around its boundaries. I was slow getting into the story (and okay, pretty slow getting out of it, too) because I couldn’t quite figure out what this world was supposed to be. In some ways it’s like the old boys of Oxford and in other ways it’s the kind of fantasy land that might fit better in a medieval time. Then there’s this fairy tale book where they could go in and become a part of the story – which was useful for training against things like dragons or other imaginary scenarios. I love that concept, and it led to a cool twist, but it confused other elements for me.
I should have loved this book, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it, so I’m just going to go with a missed connection or a clashing of personalities here as a reason for not loving it. I think there’s some awesome in here, I just wasn’t able to pick it up. So if this books sounds like your kind of book, please don’t let me stop you from picking it up. I just really wasn’t feeling it, which is bound to happen every once in a while.

They should be interesting and daring while still being true to life. And Lisa Desrochers demonstrates and balances all these elements beautifully.

It's a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you're afraid you won't like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey's loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. Finding It - Cora Carmack

Synopsis: Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong...
