Book Blitz: Cup of Life by Juliana Haygert :: Excerpt + Giveaway

----------------------Excerpt----------------------
Thirty or forty years ago, I wouldn’t have stared at the girl in front of me for more than five seconds before charming her into going to bed with me.
But this girl ... this girl was different.
“I think that’s everything,” Nadine said, stepping out of the cottage as Rok flew from the roof.
It was early January. The lights around the cottage reflected on the three feet of snow, and illuminated Nadine’s long brown hair, tinting some strands bronze. Her hair, her dark green eyes, and her red lips contrasted with her fair skin, and the only thought on my mind was that I had never seen a more beautiful girl in my entire life. And I had been alive for quite some time.
Nadine approached me, and as it was every time she looked at me, I fought the urge to reach to her, to pull her against me, to kiss her, to—
“It is everything, isn’t it?” She glanced at the bag slung across my shoulder and the box in my arms. She held her sister’s stuffed bunny in one hand, and a duffel bag in another.
We had been moving to our new location all day, making several trips to and from, and now we were the last ones here.
“I think so,” I replied, quickly glancing to Rok hovering above our heads. “Ready?”
She walked down the porch steps, into the snow, and turned to the cottage. Her eyes scanned it, as if she wanted to take every little detail with her.
She slung the duffel bag on her shoulder and turned the collar of her jacket up. “It’s odd. I feel like I should feel bad for leaving this place after fleeing so many others, after losing so many people.” She sighed. “But I don’t, and I totally should, especially after seeing the new place Ceris got us.”
I nodded, knowing too well that the new place brought her depressing memories.
No matter. It was a new place, a new path on our journey, a new beginning. We were on the right track.
I offered my arm to her. “Let’s go, darling.”
With a half-smile that made my heart skip a beat, Nadine sauntered to me and hooked her arm with mine.
I scooted closer to her, more than necessary, because I could, because I wanted, and transported us out of there.

Release Day Launch: Avalon by Mindee Arnett

Happy Release Day to Mindee Arnett's awesome new sci-fi novel, Avalon! You're not going to want to miss this one! So check out a teaser and enter the giveaway! Then go buy every copy you can find. It's worth it.

------------------About the Book------------------
Of the various star systems that make up the Confederation, most lie thousands of light-years from First Earth—and out here, no one is free. The agencies that govern the Confederation are as corrupt as the crime bosses who patrol it, and power is held by anyone with enough greed and ruthlessness to claim it. That power is derived from one thing: metatech, the devices that allow people to travel great distances faster than the speed of light.

Jeth Seagrave and his crew of teenage mercenaries have survived in this world by stealing unsecured metatech, and they're damn good at it. Jeth doesn't care about the politics or the law; all he cares about is earning enough money to buy back his parents' ship, Avalon, from his crime-boss employer and getting himself and his sister, Lizzie, the heck out of Dodge. But when Jeth finds himself in possession of information that both the crime bosses and the government are willing to kill for, he is going to have to ask himself how far he'll go to get the freedom he's wanted for so long.

With pulse-pounding action, a captivating mystery, and even a bit of romance, Avalon is the perfect read for hard-core sci-fi fans and non–sci-fi fans alike.

Immortal Circus Final Act Blog Tour: Guest Post & Giveaway

Welcome to my stop on the Immortal Circus Final Act Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours! It's so awesome to have the amazing Alex Kahler back on the blog talking about his series. If you guys haven't had a chance to start the Immortal Circus books, I highly recommend you start now. I mean, how can you pass up faerie politics, a grand circus and so many secrets and twists? But I'll let Alex walk you through some of the highlights of this awesome series.

----------------Guest Post----------------

Hey!
Thanks so much for hosting me.
I thought I'd do something a little different for this post—rather than chat, I wanted to share my top 5 quotes/moments from the Immortal Circus series. I loved so much of the banter and scenes in this series, it was hard to pick just five. (Especially because I can't find all of them offhand.) I'm even going to be nice and give you a little teaser from the last book.
So, without further ado, a small selection of my favorites. I'd love to hear yours!

Act One
Sabina looks perfect, poised, holding a pose for the audience's applause. Except Sabina's red unitard is usually white, and the long gash across her throat is a second smile leaking its secrets into the ring.

--- “I'm not the killer,” I say. At least, I don't think I am. “I almost saw them, last night.”“Well, if it's any consolation, I don't think you're the killer either.”(...)“Why not?” I ask.“Because,” he says. His comforting smile turns wicked. “You're too much of a wimp to kill anyone.”
Act Two
As it is, I can only stare straight ahead and watch the fields roll by. Behind me, at the front of the cart, I hear the steady clop of what I assume are horses. I feel like I've been roofied at a Renaissance faire.

---
I don’t want to be the girl that’s with the guy because without him she’s nothing. I want to be the girl who’s with the guy because she’s powerful and he’s powerful and they’re powerful together
Final Act
“The Broken King is marching,” Lilith intones, echoing the very words she said a month ago. “And he will have his revenge.” Then she picks up her usual singsong voice and does a little dance. I can't tell if it's the demon toying with me or the little girl just being a little girl.“You think the end will come with me. But no, the end will come with three.” Before I can ask her what the hell she's talking about, she twirls around and skips off.
