November Top 5

November was a crazy month you guys. A lot of things changed and my life got way busier. Which sadly left less time for reading. I'm actually going to be pulling back on the blog a little bit. I used to post 5 times a week and now I'm shooting for 2-3 times. Anyways, I still read some awesome books and here are the top five from November.

1. The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd

I'm just going to describe this for you the same way I described it to my friend: It has a crazy surgeon, a remote island, and lots of improper behavior for 1890. Watch out for this one you guys! It's different and it's awesome. Don't miss it. 

2. The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Michelle Hodkin wins again. Noah love forever. 

3. Slammed by Colleen Hoover

This book punched me in the soul. I was finishing it at 4 AM and my poor roommate had to ask if I was okay because I was sobbing so hard. 

4. Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill

I read this the day after Slammed. This book is the exact opposite of Slammed. It's light and cheery. And it's in London. Traveling is happiness. 

5. Find You in the Dark by M. Meredith Walters

I don't think I breathed through this book. It had me constantly on the edge waiting for something to blow up. And that ending. Whoa. Watch out for this author.

What impresses me so much about Michelle Hodkin's writing is the way that she's so ambiguous about sanity. I usually think Mara is sane and there are crazy things happening to her, but other times I'm like...is she actually making all of this up in her head...??? I have no idea. And that's what makes this book awesome and so different from other books out there. Plus, even if she's making everything up - it's still freaking intense and scary.

So I freaked out a lot while reading this. For two main reasons. One. The creepiness. Things dying, things chasing her, people stalking, creepy dolls. Seriously, holy snicklefritz. Most of the things that go down in this book give me shivers and make me want to curl up in the corner and cry a little.

The second reason? Duh. NOAH. This boy just gets dreamier every time he opens his mouth. And says lovely, sometimes scandalous, things with his British accent. He may be one of the swooniest boys ever. Ever. Always want more Noah.

If you loved Unbecoming don't hesitate to pick up Evolution. It lives up to book one and then some. I'm cutting this short to avoid spoiler territory. All I can say is - it's fantastic. I love it. Read it.

October Top 5

Happy Halloween! So, this month was another crazy one. I also deviated a bit from my blog, if you haven't noticed - it's been quieter than usual this month. This is because I've discovered the joys of New Adult and had myself a bit of a marathon. There will be a post later this week breaking down this marathon, but I'm still all about YA. I did manage to read some amazing books this month between my busy schedule and the NA madness. Here are my top five YA reads in October. 

1. Black City by Elizabeth Richards

This book totally blew me out of the water. It twisted every idea I've ever had about soul mates, vampires, dystopia, life in general...This book is spectacular.

2. Dark Star by Bethany Frenette

SUPERHEROES IN MINNEAPOLIS. Plus, it mentions my home town. OH, yeah, and it's just straight up awesome. 

3. Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally

Miranda Kenneally writes contemporary fiction like a champ. Stealing Parker completely lived up to the awesomeness of Catching Jordan. I will now officially read anything Miranda writes. Check out my review here.

4. Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson

Norse mythology, Norway, and a new book crush. This book has everything I want out of a mythological adventure. Read my review here. 

5. The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Ok, I'm actually only almost done with this one. But of course, it's epic. This book lives up to book one. And duh, more Noah - always need more Noah.
